They are also familiar with the weather conditions and tides, cautioning surfers with what they can do. On these beaches, there are also flags and other signs that will help people stay safe.

Even good swimmers and surfers need backup in the open waters. Big swells might be challenging, especially for those who are newbies to surfing. Having someone nearby will help a person get back to shore faster in case things get tricky.

Before paddling or riding a wave, it is a must to check the surroundings. Give way to the surfers closes to the peak and avoid snaking around them. More than these steps being a part of surfing etiquette, it is also an important way to keep surfers safe.
